Kevin Magee (DEGREE THREE, LEVEL TWO APPRENTICE)

Kevin started his martial training in 1988 when at university in Belfast. After initial training in Wado Ryu Karate and Judo, he started to train Aikido in 1990. He trained with Aikido Instructors in Ireland and England before going to Japan in 1994 to study with Morihiro Saito sensei (9th Dan). Kevin intensively trained under Saito sensei for 6 years, leaving Japan after been awarded the rank of 4th Dan in Aikido from Saito sensei. He also travelled extensively within Japan and USA to train with many famous Aikido instructors and has taught Aikido in Japan, USA and Europe.
In 1998, after reading the book "Cheng Hsin – The Principles of Effortless Power", Kevin went to a seminar taught by the author, Master Ralston. The ability and teachings of Master Ralston completely transformed Kevin's experience of martial arts. Kevin had never before seen a martial artist of this calibre.
Ralston's mastery was outstanding and his emphasis on teaching skill and the principles of effortless power and effective interaction was like switching on a light. At the time Master Ralston was only teaching seminars, and Kevin travelled extensively to train in Cheng Hsin seminars at least once a year. Initially, Kevin tried to incorporate the Cheng Hsin principles into his Aikido training but after time he decided that it would be more honest and better training to devote himself completely to training Cheng Hsin.
In 2002, Master Ralston opened up a Cheng Hsin center in Texas. Kevin stayed for 6 months in 2001/2002 to help build the dojo and participate in the first live-in month-long training seminar, which is now an annual event. In 2004 Kevin completed the first 7 month Cheng Hsin Apprenticeship Program, which included intensive martial training every day (more than 8 hours a day for 6 days a week), as well as contemplation and ontological work under the guidance of Master Ralston. Kevin is a degree 3 in Cheng Hsin and is currently teaching weekly Cheng Hsin classes in London. For more information on these classes please contact the London website www.chenghsin.co.uk or contact Kevin at chenghsin@europe.com

Having recently completed the seven month live-in Apprentice Program at the Cheng Hsin headquarters in Texas, Stephen is currently training in Cheng Hsin Tui Shou, Cheng Hsin Boxing and MMA.
His first big mistake was taking up Judo aged 12 – as he has been hooked on Martial arts ever since. His teenage years were spent competing in Tae Kwon-Do, and studying Kung Fu. In 2000 he spent a year in Edmonton, Canada in order to become a Kung Fu Instructor under Master Chan Yin Wah . During this time he discovered a copy of The Principles of Effortless Power by Peter Ralston and has been hooked on Cheng Hsin ever since.
Stephen enjoys nothing more than a good rumble amongst friends but is equally enticed by the Ontology and Consciousness work involved in Cheng Hsin. Having done two Enlightenment Intensives Stephen plans to do many more in the future.

Mike currently teaches at The Loft in Swansea.
Mike started training in 1979 at the age of 12 in Wado Ryu karate, progressing to the Li (Lee) family system under the late Prof. Chee Soo. At 16 became the youngest teacher in Chee Soo’s association throughout it’s international branches. After some 10 years learning and teaching Li family arts including Feng Shou Kung Fu, Li Style Taijiquan, Chinese Yoga, massage and weapons, work forced a break of 4 years and in 1993 met an old student, Tony Court who was teaching Erle Montaigue’s taiji system. He qualified as a teacher of this system in 1996 and set up a school in Swansea.
In 1996 he also met Gordon Faulkner of the Chanquanshu School of Daoist Arts in Scotland. After much planning and talking over the phone, Gordon kindly agreed to come to Swansea for the first Healing Dao workshop and has been a visitor ever since to pass his knowledge on to students in the South Wales area. He continues his studies with Gordon Faulkner realising there is still much work to be done.
Mike has also studied Aikido, Wing Chun and has researched into many other combative arts. He is Vice President of the Scotland & Wales Daoyin Yangsheng Gong Association for Wales and is a member of the Society for Anglo-Chinese Understanding (SACU).
In 2001 Mike attended his first workshop with Peter Ralston and has trained with him every year since. In July 2003 Mike became an official Cheng Hsin Trainer (not official teacher status) and a new Cheng Hsin Class is now available at The Loft in Swansea (Classes)
In November 2004, Mike became a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society and in July 2005 gained his Degree One in Cheng Hsin T’ui Shou from Master Peter Ralston

I studied various martial arts including boxing, karate and judo as a teenager.
I began Tai Chi Chuan in 1984 in Chicago and my teacher there recommended a workshop being facilitated by Peter Ralston. That was 1985 and it was an ontological workshop. After that I attended Peter Ralston workshops whenever I could.
In the early 1990's I was living in New York and studying Tai Chi Chuan with William C.C. Chen. When I came back to the Republic of Ireland in 1993 I was teaching Tai Chi Chuan. I went to Peter Ralston's summer workshops in Holland.
About 5 years ago I began teaching Cheng Hsin. I train small groups here in Donegal, which is in the north west of the Republic of Ireland.
